Goal Oriented

Greetings! We’ve been blessed with another beautiful day. This morning I had a great workout session. I worked on quads, hamstrings, calves, and  put in 3 miles on the treadmill. I did my run at an 8:30 pace. I’m currently at 960 miles for the year and will be crossing the 1000 mile mark in a couple weeks.

I’ve been thinking a lot about 2017 and all the things I want to accomplish in the upcoming year. By the way, if you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m a Goal Oriented individual.  Having emotionally charged goals motivate me and keeps my fire going. What is my fuel? Goals

December is my favorite month of the year. The fact that my birthday and Christmas is in December does play a small part in this being my favorite month. What makes December my favorite month is the fact that I create my goals and put together my action plan for the upcoming year.

Each year I set goals in the following categories:

  • Family
  • Health & Fitness
  • Professional
  • Financial
  • Growth and Development
  • Business (New Category for 2017)

I set anywhere between 1-5 SMART goals in each category. I document the goals and save a copy on all my devices and print a copy to mark up by hand and post a copy on my dream board. I also develop a tracker for each of the goals. The tracker can be as simple as a checklist or as sophisticated as a spreadsheet. Having a tracker is important because it will provide feedback on the progress towards my goals.

Listed below are some of the tools I use for goal setting, planning, and tracking:

  • Journals
  • Calendars (both paper and digital)
  • Apps
  • Spreadsheets
  • Dream/Vision Boards
  • Visual Management Boards
  • Checklists
  • Simplified One-Pagers

Please comment or share on how you preparing for the upcoming year.

Until next time my friends! Be more, Do more! Let’s Go!
