I ran in the Wicked Halloween Run in Plymouth, Michigan this morning. This was my 3rd year running in this race. I ran this course in 2012 and 2013.
The temperature at race start was 52 degrees with rain ☔️.
Due to the rain, the 10K race start was delayed 5 minutes. The race started at the Ford Field Park in Downtown Plymouth. There was a costume contest prior the race and a local dance team performing the Michael Jackson Thriller dance routine in the rain. It was pretty cool!
I took it easy the first mile and made my way through the crowd. When I reached the 2 mile mark, I began to pick up my pace and got into my groove. Miles 2-4 was strong. I was feeling good after hitting the 4 mile mark and decided to pick up the pace a bit. I had my eye on a group of runners that were in front of me for a couple of miles and set a goal to catch them before hitting the 6 mile mark. I caught the group and put on the jets when I had .2 miles left. One of the guys in the group decided to put on his jets too and we had a little mini duel towards the finish. I lost the mini duel!😀
I finished the race with a time of 50:20 which is a new personal best. I finished 81st of 771 overall and 13th of 31 in my age group.
Despite it raining the entire race, I had a good time. The course had adequate fluid stations and plenty of smiling volunteers. Kona Racing Company does a great job planning and organizing races. They also have some of the best medal designs. I received two medals at the finish. The first medal was for the 10K and the second medal was a bonus medal for completing all three races in the Triple Crown Series.
I also received some cool race gear. Participants received a long sleeve tech shirt and a hat. I am going to wear them both later today 😀.
Another race in the books! Overall, I had a good time running in the Wicked Halloween Run. I highly recommend this race. I have one more race left for this year and it is going down next Saturday in Indianapolis!
Until next time my friends! Be more, Do more! Let’s Go!
