Half Marathon #37 – Capital City River Run 2016

Today I ran my 37th half marathon. My finish time was 1:58:08. I placed 325th of 1282 overall and 39th of 82 in my age group. This was my 9th fastest time out my 37 half marathons. I didn’t meet my goal but I’m happy with the end result.

The race started at 8:00am and the temperature was 61 degrees. The race start was in front of Lansing Community College. I took it easy for the couple miles and got in the groove around mile 3. Miles 4-6 were pretty strong and I held a great pace. My pace started to fade slighty between miles 7-9. Miles 10-13 were tough, but I was able to hang in in there and finished right under 2 hours.
The course was flat and did not have any big hills. The course took you through downtown Lansing, Michigan State University Campus, through trails in the county park, and ended at Lansing Community College.  There was great race support from the local police and plenty of volunteers at the aid stations. Water and aid stations were placed every two miles.

At the finish there were plenty of volunteers handing out medals and they had an assortment of post race snacks for the runners.

I had a great time at the race today. I highly recommend this race to anyone looking for a late summer/early fall marathon. I’ll definitely be back next year.

That’s it for now folks! Half Marathon #37 is in the books! Be more,Do more! Let’s Go!
